Albemarle 41: A Modern Take on the Classic Express

April 15, 2021

The express boat is one of sportfishing’s most enduring configurations. In many ways, the Albemarle 41 Custom Carolina Edition carries the mantle of the express tradition as well as anything produced today.

The 41 artfully combines the adaptability of the express with modern performance. The result is high level fishability in a package that is both manageable and versatile. This platform is ideally positioned to take advantage of a number of fishing and lifestyle activities—including those in Southern California and Mexico.

What Makes An Express So Great

Express boats are marked by the lower station that sits forward of the cockpit and aft of the entry way into the boat’s interior. On the 41 Albemarle, the helm is surrounded by wrap around lounge seating and two Release Marine teak helm chairs.

While the captain can run the boat from the second station in the tower, this main station is the mark of the express. The 41’s one-piece, molded fiberglass windshield provides incredible visibility and excellent protection from the elements. This configuration is ideal for the owner operator or captain who wants to interact with guests while in transit

It also provides a covered, exterior space that’s perfect for sunset cruises or dinner aboard the boat. This space is ideal for anglers to get out of the sun between bites.

More than a dayboat, the 41 includes an ably appointed, conditioned interior as well. With a galley, head, salon, master and additional bunks, the interior equips the boat for overnight accommodation offshore or long weekends aboard the boat in your favorite remote fishing port.

Fishability

The Albemarle 41 Carolina Edition boasts an assortment of fishing hardware. Both the tower and lower stations contain multifunction displays for electronics. The boat’s interior contains rod storage lockers. It also has outriggers, plenty of rod holders and everything you’d expect from a sportfisher.

The boat’s cockpit features live wells, bait freezers, in-deck fish boxes with macerators and a mount for a fighting chair. Mezzanine seating provides a great view of the spread—and space for tackle drawers (positioned exactly where you need them).

The 41 is available in Cummins Q11 or Caterpillar power packages. In either case, the entire deck can lift hydraulically (in a single piece)—to allow access to mechanical spaces.  At 41 feet—with a large, open cockpit—the Ablemarle Carolina Edition is a nimble platform that is well equipped for serious fishing applications.
